Link to Me Textbox WordPress Plugin
This is a WordPress plugin that will give you more links and higher rankings in the search engines.
Most bloggers knows the importance of getting links in order to get high rankings in search engines. But did you know that the best links are those that are natural recommendations? Additionally I experienced better rankings across all my blog posts just a week after adding this plugin to this blog as it adds the most important keywords 3 more times, example.
A demo of the Link to Me Textbox plugin can be seen at the end of this post before the comments.
How to install
- Dowload the plugin file here and unzip it.
- Upload the plugin file to your plugins folder, usually in wp-content/plugins/, and activate it on the plugin screen.
- Open upp your CSS file and add the following lines (edit CSS as you wish):
.linktext { font-size:9px; margin-left:5%; margin-right:5%; } .linktextarea { font-size:9px; font-family:verdana; overflow:hidden; } - Next add the following line in your template file, in the single.php:
<?php if (function_exists('link_to_me_textbox')) link_to_me_textbox(''); ?>You can add it just before this line:
<?php comments_template(); ?> - Get higher rankings and more links!

Yes, same here… I run a wpmu (multi-user) site, so HTML based plugins are not permitted.
Thanks for providing this Jim though is there a way to wrap URLs or fix the width of the copy/paste box? My blog - http://www.affiliates-world.com/blog/index.php - has some particularly long URLs and 3 columns. When I have your plug-in activated, it makes the width of my page too wide unfortunately.

Change the numbers in cols=’80′ rows=’2′ and in the CSS until it fits your site.

Step 4 is not clear to me. I can’t find a file named “single.php” and is that the template file you are making reference to? I’m a newbie at WP, so what am I missing here? Thanks.
OK, nevermind on that last request. I have now determined that some templates have the single.php file, while in other templates, the referenced line is in the index.php file. Thanks just the same. Nice template by the way.

Your plugin is almost perfect for what I’m looking for but I would like to designate one specific page of the site to link to, but have the link textbox on each page in the site. I’ve tried hacking the plugin with no success. I’m sort of an amateur in plugins.

Hello there. Short: I love your SEO tips and this plugin. I have a suggestion though … since Google actually cares about the title attributes of a anchor tag, what do you think about a link generated like this:

The $link_to_me variable has a small bug which breaks the XHTML validation. At the end, after a is missing.

I can’t get this to work, which sucks cause I link this plug in and what it does. Where in my CSS file do I add this to, it is a very big page also when I add the other line (the smaller one) I get a error and my site don’t load.

Hello i am trying to use this with WPMU 1.3.3 with not much success. Is it wpmu compatible can anyone tell me? It seems to work when i activate it etc (no blank screen like non working wordpress plugins) Ive added the css and also the code above the comment code in the single.php. When i go to WRITE a post i see no box. Am i missing something here?

Nice one… I don’t think that you really need plugin for this, but it’s nice way to keep your templates tidy.
The only thing that’s missing is readme file - there are no instructions how to set up displaying of the link in the page (template editing).

I attempted to add your plugin and despite changing the cols and rows; I still get a box that is the size of your comment box but unable to get it to look like the “Link to This Page”example that you have. Is there something I could be overlooking?

Is there a way to make the block smaller? The actual text only takes up about 1/8 of the entire text block. The rest of it is empty.

Hi Jim I think your plug in looks great, in theory but I went to all the sites of the people who commented and no one had it set up I was curious why? Does it work or are people not patient? I was thinking of using it - have you got many links from it? But anyway I like the style of your site and what you write!
Ok I will try it on my http://autoinsurance5.com site. I will try to keep it on the site and see the effects and report back. However, I am concerned that when in the code it says It will look like this:”your blog title (link)” this will be too many links on the same post to this 1) permalink 2) your new link 3) title link. I am concerned google will see this too many links on the same page pointing to the same page? But lets see, I really like your site - your site design and you have very innovative ideas. Note that you won’t find it on my main page, which I am trying to keep as neat and tidy as possible, but I use it in my blog.
