I'm not surprised that they rank though. If you can get enough pages indexed, they will naturally rank. You can't underestimate internal link juice. The problem I find annoying is these spammers can rinse and repeat this tactic on hundreds of domains with no effort. Is Google going to do a handjob on every single one of those, or are they going to wisen up and either stop regarding subdomains as separate entities or else do a whois on the spammer's domain?
