Link love goes to charity and someone actually thought about the rules this time. For example you have to have a new domain but not have the keywords in it … interesting.

I think this new contest is great, because of the very clear rules, and the fact that everyone starts out on a clean state with a new domain. I have decided to participate in this contest with the domain http://www.talkupation.info.

Jim I think you should give it a go, this post ranks pretty well and that would give you a good jump start for a new site. It ranked #1 for the first week. Oh, yea since everyone else is doing it, and even though their’s a nofollow, my entry is http://www.seocontestant.com/
The SEO Concept is getting pretty old in my opinion and I think they should stop with it. Even if they made a little variety to their rules.

I will let this go, the V7N contest got my fame which was my goal and there is no need to keep going on this kind of things.
Ya Matt, I think you have a point there, however I think it really depends on how you approach the contest. Personally, I am not just entering to win the contest and all the prizes, but rather to learn more about SEO, and then implement what I learn into my other websites.

Sure there are a few of these SEO competitions on similar tracks. However for a webmaster/SEO’er its a chance for them to shine and perhaps come away with a good reputation. For some its just a challenge and therefor I support such Concepts. I would also be open to other concepts.

Matt I have to disagree with you. I have enjoyed your blog and you have alot of interesting things to say that I have never thought of atleast in that light however in this situation you are wrong. The contest has two very good points. First a link to webmaster-talk was not required just a link to a charity. I think that was a awesome idea. Second it is none of your business what contests get started, who starts them and why they got started. This contest as far as I know does not disobey Google guidelines and I don’t think Tim would have started it if it did.
I joined the contest for some fun. I like the idea of competing with other SEO and having equal chances because of how the rules were setup.

I don’t think it will be easy to stop these contests, in fact more and more webmasters see it as an easy way to get tons of links. There are new contests popping up each months so it will not be easy to stop them now. CPayscom2 Online Casino
Well the final days are coming close and the results have just updated.

well I hope seo contests never stop….. as the search engine keeps changing and updating their algorithm, following the seo contests websites is the easiest way to see how a new page can rank well on which search engine.
I would say that increasing such contest would save atleast few of the seo rather than lowering their prices to $1 per hour just to compete with other newbie SEO offers in forums.
Working for peanuts is real downgradding the profession itself.
