<description>Your idea reminds me of Edward de Bono's "code" concept: http://www.edwarddebono.com/concept8.htm

Perhaps the thing to do would be to put both ideas together and use de Bono's Code to develop hotkeys for IM and emails.</description>

<description>Thanks for enlightening me a bit about using our Western keyboards for Chinese character sets.

Much of what you discuss is the use of abbreviations, already happening on forums and blogs, IMHO (in my humble opinion). LOL!

I believe an alternative to the keyboard will emerge as technology becomes faster, cheaper, better... Voice Recognition. Rather than all of us being forced to type characters to make words to convey thoughts, we'll simply speak the words that convey our thoughts. VUI - Voice User Interface - will replace GUI, Graphical User Interface...or at least augment it to a great extent. All we'll need is a Ring that we wear and turn on to point (the world's best cursor is still the human finger) among graphical interfaces, then we'll speak to the site, perhaps via the ring's own built-in microphone.

Regards,
