Link Bait
Posted in Link Building, SEO Articles on February 13th, 2006

Link baiting (or linkbaiting) is the latest buzz word in the SEO world and has come to be the preferred way to natural link building.
It means to create something that naturally attract backlinks for your web page by getting people to talk about it, discussing it on forums, blogging about i, posting it on del.icio.us/Furl/Digg/Shoutwire [...]

SEO Test Finalized - How to write the URLs?
Posted in SEO on February 13th, 2006

The way I learn SEO is by observing and testing. I don’t listen to all that junk on forums and articles except the very few sources that are my favorites such as randfish.
In my tests I have all of the test pages with an exact amount of generated random Lorem Ipsum to not hit the [...]

Lady Google
Posted in Humor, SEO on January 27th, 2006

In a forum thread of StatCounter Robin posted an answer to a person that was impatient with Google in regards to ranking.
This is what he wrote:
Lady Google does not provide immediate gratification. She considers that kind of thing to be undignified. She expects to be romanced for a considerable time.
She’ll pay attention to you only [...]

http://www.myblog.com/my-blog-post
http://www.myblog.com/my-blog-post/
http://myblog.com/my-blog-post
http://myblog.com/my-blog-post/
Google sees this as 4 different URLs and 4 different pages when in fact it is only one. One of them will rank higher [...]

Google Sandbox - All Latest Data
Posted in SEO, SEO Articles on January 12th, 2006

What is the Google “sandbox”?
In my own words I would say it is an observation of an algo effect implemented by Google in March 2004 that makes new sites not rank at all for a period of many months. It is a dampening effect that was most probably created to stop spam sites from getting [...]

Checking backlinks the right way
Posted in Link Building on December 31st, 2005

How is the correct way to check backlinks?
This is what I have learned from own observations and I feel like it would be good to share.
First I can tell you that Google only shows a random fraction on the backlinks they know of - so it is totally useless using Google for this purpose. Probably [...]

Google backlinks just updated
Posted in SEO News on December 20th, 2005

Just noticed it, it must have happened in the last few hours.
Google is not updating the backlinks regularly like MSN and for some strange reason only shows part of them and in a random manner.
My advice is to always use MSN when checking links. It also seem like MSN is listing the backlinks with the [...]

Google knows about your backlinks
Posted in SEO on December 18th, 2005

Google knows probably a lot more than you think.
This is a blog post by Matt Cutts (Google Engineer): “Tell me about your backlinks”
Google might not like that text links are being bought but in my opinion I see no problem with that. You pay for advertising, just like adwords.
Now, I agree that Google should take [...]
