Yes, actually the target is changed. Not 2007 but before the summer!

Do you find that when you buy domains and the ownership is transferred to you that the domains lose a bit of their “trust” from Google.

Probably, I don’t have enough observation data to make a conclusion. Most of the sites I buy I transfer over to my hosting, change who-is etc. and then I let them sit until I have time to work with them. That can take half a year and by that time it has regained it’s trust again I believe.

About backlinks being discounted after owner change is not correct. Loose some trust in the domain - maybe.
